Bivalirudin

Mebeverine is a medicine that belongs to a class of drugs known as antispasmodic agents. It exerts effects on the gastrointestinal smooth muscles without affecting regular intestine motility. The actual mechanism is unknown, however a couple of mechanisms might contribute to its impact on the gastrointestinal tract, such as a decrease in ion channel permeabilities, blockade of norepinephrine reuptake, adjustments in water absorption and weak anti-muscarinergic and phosphodiesterase inhibitory effects.

Mebeverine is a drug that is used to treat gastrointestinal spasm and irritable bowel syndrome.

Do not give Mebeverine in paralytic ileus.

Mebeverine may give rise to side effects such as the following:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances
  • Insomnia
  • Anorexia
  • Decreased heart rate
  • Hypersensitivity (example urticaria, erythematous rash, angioedema)

Precautions

Special precautions should be observed by people with the following conditions:

  • Patients with heart disorders (example heart block)
  • Renal and hepatic impairment
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
