Beta-carotene is a carotenoid that is a precursor of vitamin A. Vitamin A is the nutrient needed for skin health. It is likewise an antioxidant that reduces the risk of cellular damage.

Beta-carotene is used in the treatment of the following:

  • Reduction in the severity of photosensitivity reactions in patients with erythropoietic protoporphyria
