TELMISARTAN HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE

Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide is an anti-hypertension medicine that is a combination of two drugs– telmisartan, an angiotensin receptor, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. This drug is used to treat high blood pressure.

Telmisartan accomplishes its functions by blocking the vasoconstricting effects of angiotensin II by binding to receptors. Hydrochlorothiazide exerts its effects on the distal tubules of the kidney to increase the secretion of water, sodium and chloride ions. It decreases the reabsorption of electrolytes from the kidney tubules.

Hypersensitivity to telmisartan, hydrochlorthiazide, or sulphonamide-derived drugs
Cholestasis and biliary obstructive disorder
Anuria
Refractory hypokalemia
Hypercalcemia
Severe kidney and liver impairment
Pregnancy and lactation
Concomitant use with aliskiren-containing products in patients with diabetes or kidney disease

History of bronchial asthma or gout
Mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
