TEGASEROD

Tegaserod is a prokinetic drug that stimulates partial agonistic activity at 5HT4 receptors. It initiates the movement of peristalsis, intestinal discharge, and visceral sensitivity blockage.

Use this medication precisely as recommended by your physician. Follow the prescription of your doctor carefully. 

The medication dose your physician has given is based on your condition, other medications or food supplements you may take, and your reaction to treatment. Do not use Tegaserod in people with the following conditions:

  • Severe renal or moderate to severe hepatic impairment
  • History of bowel obstruction or symptomatic gallbladder disease
  • Suspected sphincter of Oddi dysfunction or abdominal adhesions
  • Known hypersensitivity
  • Patients currently experiencing or who frequently experience diarrhoea
  • Lactation

Tegaserod may have the following side effects:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea
  • Flatulence
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Migraine
  • leg or back pain
  • Arthropathy
  • Insomnia
  • Hypotension
  • Arrhythmia
  • Ischaemic colitis.

Potentially Fatal:

  • MI
  • Stroke

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more noteworthy than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

Precautions

Tegaserod may interact with the following medicines:

  • Digoxin
