SARPOGRELATE HYDROCHLORIDE

Sarpogrelate hydrochlorideis a drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as anticoagulants, antiplatelets & fibrinolysis (thrombolytics). This drug inhibits platelet aggregation and vascular contraction by antagonizing 5-HT2 serotonin receptors in platelets and vascular smooth muscle. It thus prevents the formation of blood clots and improves blood flow.

Sarpogrelate hydrochloride is used to treat chronic arterial occlusion.

Do not use in people with allergy to Sarpogrelate hydrochloride

  • Hemorrhage
  • Gastrointestinal ulceration
  • Urinary tract hemorrhage
  • Hemophilia
  • Capillary fragility
  • Hemoptysis
  • Vitreous hemorrhage
  • Pregnancy

Sarpogrelate hydrochloride may have the following side effects:

  • Cerebral and gastrointestinal hemorrhage
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Agranulocytosis
  • Jaundice
  • Increased AST/ALT and bilirubin
  • Blood and lymphatic system disorders
  • Anemia
  • Palpitations
  • Breath shortness
  • Malaise
  • Edema
  • Sleepiness
  • Hot flush

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Hemorrhagic diathesis
  • Bleeding tendency
  • Gastrointestinal ulcer
  • Hemoptysis
  • Urinary tract hemorrhage
  • Vitreoushemorrhage
  • Severe renal impairment
  • Elderly
  • Lactation

 

Interactions

Sarpogrelate hydrochloride may interact with the following medicines:

  • Anticoagulants like warfarin
  • Anti-plateletslike cilostazol, aspirin, ticlodipine
