DARYTH

Do not use Daryth in people with the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity: Daryth should not be used in individuals who have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to the medication or any of its components. Allergic reactions to Daryth can range from mild skin rashes to more severe reactions, including difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, throat, or tongue.
• Severe sinus node dysfunction: Daryth is contraindicated in individuals with severe sinus node dysfunction, which is a condition where the natural pacemaker of the heart (sinus node) is not functioning properly. Daryth can further slow down the heart rate in these individuals and worsen the symptoms.
• Second- or third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block: Daryth is contraindicated in individuals with second- or third-degree AV block, which are conditions that affect the electrical conduction between the atria and ventricles of the heart. Daryth can further slow down the heart rate and potentially lead to complete heart block in these individuals.
• Preexisting severe lung disease: Daryth is contraindicated in individuals with preexisting severe lung disease, such as pulmonary fibrosis or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Daryth can worsen lung function and potentially lead to a serious condition called Daryth-induced pulmonary toxicity.
• Thyroid dysfunction: Daryth can affect thyroid function and may lead to either hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Therefore, it is contraindicated in individuals with known thyroid dysfunction, as it can further disrupt thyroid hormone levels.

Daryth may have the following side effects:

• Pulmonary toxicity: Daryth can cause lung problems in some individuals, such as pulmonary fibrosis or inflammation of the lung tissues. Symptoms may include cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, or coughing up blood. Regular monitoring of lung function is typically recommended during Daryth treatment.
• Thyroid dysfunction: Daryth can affect thyroid function, leading to either hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Symptoms of hypothyroidism may include fatigue, weight gain, and cold intolerance, while symptoms of hyperthyroidism may include weight loss, rapid heartbeat, and excessive sweating.
• Liver toxicity: In rare cases, Daryth can cause liver problems, such as elevated liver enzymes or hepatitis. Symptoms may include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), abdominal pain, or dark urine. Regular monitoring of liver function is typically recommended during Daryth treatment.
• Skin reactions: Daryth can cause various skin reactions, including photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to the sun), skin discoloration, or a bluish-gray discoloration of the skin called Daryth-induced pigmentation.
• Gastrointestinal effects: Some individuals may experience nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite while taking Daryth. These symptoms are usually mild and transient.
• Eye effects: Daryth may rarely cause visual disturbances, including blurred vision or seeing halos around lights. Regular eye exams are typically recommended during Daryth treatment.

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more noteworthy than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Daryth is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the fetus or infant. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, it is important to discuss this with your healthcare professional to determine the best course of action.
• Sun exposure: Daryth can increase sensitivity to sunlight, leading to an increased risk of sunburn. It is important to take necessary precautions, such as wearing protective clothing and sunscreen, and avoiding excessive sun exposure while taking Daryth.

Interactions

Daryth may interact with the following medicines:

• Antiarrhythmics: Daryth should not be taken together with certain other antiarrhythmic medications, such as quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, or sotalol. When combined, these drugs can increase the risk of serious heart rhythm abnormalities.
• Blood thinners: Daryth can interact with blood thinning medications, such as warfarin, and increase the risk of bleeding. Close monitoring of blood clotting parameters, such as international normalized ratio (INR), is necessary if these medications are used together.
• Beta-blockers: Combining Daryth with certain beta-blocker medications, such as metoprolol or propranolol, can lead to an increased risk of slow heart rate and other heart rhythm disturbances. Dose adjustments or close monitoring may be needed when using these medications together.
• Calcium channel blockers: Daryth can enhance the effects of calcium channel blockers, such as verapamil or diltiazem, leading to a risk of slow heart rate or low blood pressure. Dose adjustments or close monitoring may be necessary when using these medications together.
• Statins: There is a potential for interaction between Daryth and statin medications, such as atorvastatin or simvastatin, which can increase the risk of muscle damage. It is important to monitor for signs of muscle pain or weakness if these medications are used together.
• Digoxin: Daryth can increase the levels of digoxin in the blood, leading to an increased risk of digoxin toxicity. Regular monitoring of digoxin levels is usually recommended if these medications are used together.
