BACITRACIN + POLYMYXIN B

Bacitracin and Polymyxin B is a combination of bactericidal agents that is used against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Bacitracin inhibits the cell wall synthesis of the bacteria that works by suspending the regeneration of phospholipid required for the synthesis of peptidoglycans. While Polymyxin B is associated with the components of phospholipids that enhance the penetration of the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane, and is limited only to a number of gram-negative bacteria.

Use this medication precisely as recommended by your physician. Follow the prescription of your doctor carefully. 

The medication dose your physician has given is based on your condition, other medications or food supplements you may take, and your reaction to treatment. To diminish your risks for adverse effects, don’t increase your dosage, take it regularly, or take it as instructed by your physician. Bacitracin + Polymyxin B may have the following side effects:

  • Burning sensation
  • Local irritation
  • Swelling
  • Conjunctival erythema
  • Pruritus (ophth)
  • Anaphylaxis
