Protect Yourself and Your Family in the New Normal

More and more people are embracing the new normal – attending family gatherings, going to malls and restaurants, returning to face-to-face or hybrid work and classes, traveling.

However, it’s important to remember that the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over. The Omicron variant is still around, and it can cause severe illness and even death, especially among more vulnerable and higher-risk groups, warns the World Health Organization (WHO).

Here are ways you can protect yourself, your loved ones, and other people in the new normal:

  • Always wear a facemask, maintain physical distancing, and avoid poorly ventilated spaces and crowds.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean high-touch surfaces regularly or as needed and after receiving visitors in your home.

  • Get vaccinated. Stay up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccines. Make sure you and your family are also up-to-date on all routine vaccines. These include vaccines against influenza (flu), pneumonia, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles/mumps/rubella among others.

Consult your doctor about the recommended vaccines for you and your family.
