What can you expect in the examination?
During the imaging colonoscopy
You’ll be required to take off your clothes and wear a gown. Sedation typically is not needed, but you may be given to calm your colon.
The exam will begin by lying on the side of the exam table, commonly with your knees pinched within your chest. The doctor will put a tiny tube inside your rectum to fill it up with air. The air will help in making clear pictures and may bring out pressure in your abdomen.
Afterward, you’ll be requested to lie on your back. The examination table will be placed into the CT devices, and your body will be examined. You may be asked to turn on other positions, such as holding your breath at the given time.
This commonly lasts up to 10 to 15 minutes only.
