BENZOIC ACID + SALICYLIC ACID

Benzoic acid + salicylic acid is a combination medicine that is applied to the skin for certain skin problems. This product contains benzoic acid, a medicine that can control infections and salicylic acid, a keratolytic agent that can soften and loosen thick and scaly skin. This product is used for fungal infections and can lead to shedding off of the skin layer for better skin treatment. This medicine is available as an ointment.

Uses

Benzoic acid + salicylic acid can be used to treat the following skin conditions:

Athlete’s foot
Ringworm
Tinea versicolor

Warning

Do not give Benzoic acid + salicylic acid to people with the following conditions:

Hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or benzoic acid
Diabetics
Patients with impaired or poor circulation
Pregnancy
Lactation
Children less than 2 years of age

Side Effects

Benzoic acid + salicylic acid may have the following side effects:

Irritation
Itchy rash
Allergic reactions
Skin inflammation
Thirst
Tinnitus or ringing in the ears
Loss of hearing
Headache
Dizziness
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Depression

Precautions

Take extra caution:

Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth and other mucous membranes
Do not use for prolonged periods, in high concentrations, over large areas of the body or on broken or inflamed skin
Discontinue use and consult physician if burning sensation lasts for more than 10 days, and if condition worsens or does not improve within 4
