OLOPATADINE

Olopatadine is a specific histamine H1-receptor antagonist which restrains histamine release from mast cells and histamine effects on conjunctival epithelial cells. It shares many effects on mast cell stabilizers.

  • Hypersensitivity to olopatadine

Olopatadine may have the following side effects:

  • Headache
  • Somnolence
  • Symptoms similar to cold syndrome and pharyngitis
  • Blurred vision
  • Ocular burning or stinging
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Dry eye
  • Foreign body sensation
  • Hyperemia
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Keratitis
  • Lid edema
  • Ocular pain or pruritus
  • Bitter taste
  • Epistaxis
  • Pyrexia
  • Rash
  • Nasal ulceration
  • Septal perforation
  • Pharyngolaryngeal pain
  • Postnasal drip
  • Cough
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Upper respiratorytract infection

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Those withcontact lens-related irritation
  • Other nasal disease
  • Pregnancy and lactation

Olopatadine may interact with the following medicines:

  • Central nervous system

Symptoms of overdose include the following:

  • Drowsiness
  • Agitation and restlessness
