TENOFOVIR DISOPROXIL FUMARATE

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is a tenofovir prodrug. Through competitive inhibition of reverse transcriptase and integration into viral DNA, it prevents the creation of HIV’s DNA. Additionally, it inhibits the hepatitis B virus polymerase, which prevents viral replication.

  • Lactation
  • Hypersensitivity

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate may have the following side effects:

  • Hypophosphatemia
  • Headache
  • Depression
  • Urticaria
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Flatulence
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal distention
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Decreased bone mineral density
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Asthenia
  • Immune reconstitution syndrome
  • Insomnia
  • Osteomalacia with proximal renal tubulopathy
  • Rash
  • Acute renal failure and/or Fanconi syndrome
  • Pruritus

Potentially Fatal:

  • Serious hepatomegaly with steatosis
  • Acidosis lactic

  • Foscarnet
  • Pentamidine
  • Didanosine
  • Cidofovir
  • Aminoglycosides
  • Adefovir
  • Atazanavir
  • Ganciclovir
  • Amphotericin B
  • Vancomycin
