RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Reconstructive surgery repairs structures that are damaged aesthetically or functionally by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It can boost some function and ability while also rebuilding the structure.

Surgery has become an integral procedure in the field of medicine. It was originally developed as a means of correcting certain problems in the human body with the use of invasive procedures. At present, modernization has influenced the surgical field, such as in reconstructive and aesthetic disciplines, which are also becoming quite sought-after and more popular. There are many multidisciplinary medical centers in the aesthetic field which are offering clients a full range of services that are dedicated to the improvement and refinement of physical appearances. The high qualifications and vast experiences of some physicians, combined with the use of high-tech equipment, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced methods all help in achieving exceptional results.

TYPES

The types of reconstructive surgery are the following:

  • Surgeries for feet and hands
  • Wound care
  • Microsurgery or flap procedures
  • Facial surgeries

Indications for reconstructive surgery include the following:

  • Hand surgery to correct deformities in the hands, remove excess fingers or correct webbing

TREATMENT

The surgery may be done in the doctor’s office, clinic, or surgery center.

It may also be done in an inpatient center, where the patient stays in the hospital for the surgery.
