HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS 9-VALENT VACCINE

RANEXID

Ranexid is used in the following conditions:

  • Treat heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and bleeding following dental procedures
  • Certain surgical procedures to reduce bleeding

In addition to its role in bleeding control, tranexamic acid has been found to be effective in treating certain conditions such as hereditary angioedema, a rare genetic disorder that causes swelling in various parts of the body. It has also been used to manage bleeding in patients with hemophilia and to prevent excessive bleeding during and after childbirth.

Furthermore, tranexamic acid has been explored as a potential treatment for other medical conditions, including traumatic brain injury and certain types of cancer, although more research is needed in these areas.

It is important to note that tranexamic acid should only be used under the guidance and prescription of a healthcare professional, as they will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment based on the individual’s specific condition and medical history.

This medicine may be recommended for different uses. Approach your physician or pharmacist for more information.

Do not use Ranexid in people with the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity
  • History of blood clots: Tranexamic acid should be used with caution in individuals with a history of blood clots, as it may increase the risk of clot formation.
  • Active blood clotting disorders: Individuals with active blood clotting disorders, such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, should avoid using tranexamic acid.
  • Color vision disturbances: Tranexamic acid can rarely cause color vision disturbances. Individuals with a history of color vision problems should use caution when taking this medication.
  • Renal impairment: Individuals with severe kidney impairment or on dialysis may require dosage adjustments or close monitoring when using tranexamic acid.
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage: Tranexamic acid is contraindicated in individuals with subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of bleeding in the space surrounding the brain.

It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before using tranexamic acid to determine if it is safe and appropriate for you, taking into consideration your medical history, current medications, and any contraindications that may apply.

Ranexid may have the following side effects:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Headache
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Muscle or joint pain

In some cases, tranexamic acid can cause more serious side effects, although these are rare. These may include:

  • Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or swelling
  • Blood clots or thromboembolic events, especially in individuals with a history of blood clotting disorders
  • Visual disturbances or changes in color vision

If you experience any severe or persistent side effects while taking tranexamic acid, it is important to seek medical attention immediately.

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more noteworthy than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

A serious allergy to this medication is uncommon. In any case, seek emergency medical help if you see any manifestations of a serious allergic response, including a rash, tingling or swelling particularly of the face or tongue or throat, dizziness or difficulty in breathing.

This is not a complete list of side effects. If you see other effects not recorded above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Medical history: Inform your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have a history of blood clots, kidney problems, or any allergies. This information will help determine if tranexamic acid is suitable for you.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, discuss the use of tranexamic acid with your healthcare provider. The safety of tranexamic acid during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established, so it should be used with caution.
  • Blood clotting disorders: Tranexamic acid may increase the risk of blood clot formation in individuals with a history of blood clotting disorders. If you have a condition such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, your healthcare provider will need to weigh the benefits and risks before prescribing tranexamic acid.
  • Color vision changes: Tranexamic acid has been reported to cause visual disturbances and changes in color vision in rare cases. If you notice any changes in your vision while taking this medication, consult your doctor.
  • Renal impairment: Individuals with severe kidney impairment or on dialysis may require dosage adjustments or close monitoring when using tranexamic acid. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose for you based on your kidney function.
  • Allergic reactions: If you have a known allergy to tranexamic acid or any of its components, do not use this medication. Always read the package insert or consult your healthcare provider for a complete list of ingredients.

Prior to taking this medicine, tell your physician or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, or if you have some other hypersensitivities. This drug may contain inert ingredients which can cause unfavorable side effects or different issues. Talk with your pharmacist for more information.

Interactions

Ranexid may interact with the following medicines:

  • Hormonal contraceptives: Tranexamic acid may interact with hormonal contraceptives such as birth control pills, patches, or rings. It is thought that tranexamic acid may reduce the effectiveness of these contraceptives, so additional or alternative methods of contraception may be needed.
  • Anticoagulants: There is a potential for increased risk of blood clot formation when tranexamic acid is taken concurrently with anticoagulant medications such as warfarin or heparin. Close monitoring of blood clotting parameters may be necessary if these medications are used together.
  • Tissue plasminogen activators: Tranexamic acid may interfere with the action of tissue plasminogen activators, which are used to dissolve blood clots. The combination of these medications may reduce the effectiveness of the clot-dissolving treatment.
  • Aminocaproic acid: Tranexamic acid and aminocaproic acid are both antifibrinolytic medications, and using them together may increase the risk of side effects. The combination should be used with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
  • Herbal supplements: Some herbal supplements, such as ginkgo biloba or garlic supplements, may have blood-thinning effects. Combining these with tranexamic acid may increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach or intestinal bleeding, which may be further increased when combined with tranexamic acid. It is advisable to limit alcohol consumption while using this medication.

Inform your physician about the drugs you take including over-the-counter medications, prescribed drugs, supplements and vitamins.

This is not a complete list of drug interactions. Approach your physician or pharmacist for more details.

The effects of certain medications can change if you consume different medications or herbal products simultaneously. This can build your risk for side effects or may cause your drugs not to work effectively. These interactions are conceivable, yet don’t generally happen. Your physician or pharmacist can prevent or oversee interactions by changing how you utilize your prescriptions or by close checking.

While utilizing this drug, don’t start, stop, or change the dose of other medicines you are using without your physician’s advice.

If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor right away.
