Precautions
Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:
- Orthostatic Hypotension: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 can cause a drop in blood pressure upon standing, leading to lightheadedness or dizziness. To minimize the risk of falls, it is recommended to rise slowly from a sitting or lying position. If you experience severe dizziness or fainting, consult your healthcare provider.
- Impulse Control Disorders: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 has been associated with impulse control disorders, such as compulsive gambling, shopping, eating, or sexual behaviors. If you notice any unusual changes in your behavior or an increased urge to engage in these activities, inform your healthcare provider.
- Sleep Attacks and Excessive Daytime Sleepiness: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 may cause sudden episodes of falling asleep or excessive daytime sleepiness. It is important to exercise caution while driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you. If you experience excessive sleepiness, discuss it with your healthcare provider.
- Mental Health Effects: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 can sometimes worsen existing psychiatric conditions or contribute to the development of new psychiatric symptoms, including hallucinations, confusion, or depression. If you have a history of mental health disorders, inform your healthcare provider before starting Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1.
- Renal Impairment: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 is primarily eliminated through the kidneys. If you have moderate to severe renal impairment, your healthcare provider may need to adjust the dosage or monitor your kidney function closely while you are taking Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1.
- Withdrawal Symptoms: Abruptly stopping Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 can result in withdrawal symptoms, including worsening of Parkinson’s disease symptoms, anxiety, agitation, and insomnia. If you need to discontinue Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1, it should be done under the guidance of your healthcare provider.

Combining these medications with Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 can increase the risk of irregular heart rhythms. - Medications that cause sedation: Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 can cause drowsiness or sedation. - Cimetidine: Cimetidine, a medication used to treat stomach ulcers and heartburn, may increase the blood levels of Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust the dosage of Ramipex 0.25/Ramipex 1 if you are taking cimetidine.
- Other medical conditions: It is important to inform your healthcare provider about any existing medical conditions you have, such as kidney disease, liver disease, or mental health disorders.
