OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is a type of oil harvested from olives. It is often used as a nutritional supplement, as a skin moisturizer, laxative and ear wax softener.

Olive oil is used for rectal fecal impaction, earwax softening, scalp moisturizing and skin moisturizing.

Olive oil may not be used in pregnant women or lactating women because of lack of safety evidence. It should not be used in those who have allergies to olive oil.

High doses of olive oil can give rise to mild diarrhea.

Precautions

Olive oil may give rise to eye irritation so do not apply near the eyes.

 

Interactions

Olive oil may interact with the following medicines:

  • Medications for diabetes
  • Medications for high blood pressure

If you think you may have used olive oil inappropriately for in excessive amounts, seek medical help.
