HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS 9-VALENT VACCINE

MARFEN

Marfen is used in the following conditions:

  • Pain relief: Marfen is often used to relieve mild to moderate pain, such as menstrual cramps, dental pain, musculoskeletal pain, and postoperative pain.
  • Menstrual pain: Marfen is particularly effective in relieving menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). It works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are hormone-like substances that contribute to menstrual cramps.
  • Inflammation: Marfen can help reduce inflammation associated with conditions like arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It can help relieve joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.
  • Fever reduction: Marfen can be used to lower fever in adults and children.

This medicine may be recommended for different uses. Approach your physician or pharmacist for more information.

Do not use Marfen in people with the following conditions:

  • Allergy or hypersensitivity: Individuals who have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Marfen or other NSAIDs should avoid its use. Allergic reactions can range from mild symptoms like rash and itching to severe reactions like difficulty breathing or anaphylaxis.
  • History of gastrointestinal bleeding or peptic ulcers: Marfen can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and ulceration. If you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or peptic ulcers, the use of Marfen is generally contraindicated.
  • Severe kidney or liver impairment: Marfen is primarily metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. If you have severe kidney or liver impairment, the clearance of the drug from your body may be impaired, leading to potential toxicity. Therefore, caution should be exercised, and the dosage may need to be adjusted or an alternative medication should be considered.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Marfen is generally contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, as it may cause harm to the developing fetus. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding, as it can pass into breast milk and potentially harm the nursing infant.
  • Patients with a history of asthma, nasal polyps, or aspirin sensitivity: Marfen and other NSAIDs can trigger asthma attacks, worsen existing asthma symptoms, or cause allergic reactions in individuals with a history of asthma, nasal polyps, or aspirin sensitivity.

Marfen may have the following side effects:

  • Gastrointestinal issues: The most common side effects of Marfen are gastrointestinal in nature. These may include stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. In some cases, Marfen can cause more severe gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, although these are less common.
  • Allergic reactions: Some individuals may experience allergic reactions to Marfen, although this is relatively rare. Signs of an allergic reaction may include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, difficulty breathing, or hives. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Central nervous system effects: Marfen can cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and blurred vision in some individuals. If you experience these symptoms, avoid activities that require alertness until you know how the medication affects you.
  • Kidney and liver effects: In rare cases, Marfen can lead to kidney or liver problems. Symptoms may include changes in urination patterns, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or abdominal pain. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult your healthcare provider.
  • Cardiovascular effects: Some studies have suggested that Marfen may slightly increase the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, especially at higher doses or with long-term use. It is important to discuss any cardiovascular risk factors with your healthcare provider before starting Marfen.

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more noteworthy than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

A serious allergy to this medication is uncommon. In any case, seek emergency medical help if you see any manifestations of a serious allergic response, including a rash, tingling or swelling particularly of the face or tongue or throat, dizziness or difficulty in breathing.

This is not a complete list of side effects. If you see other effects not recorded above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Alcohol and tobacco: Alcohol and tobacco may increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects associated with Marfen. It is advisable to limit or avoid the consumption of alcohol and tobacco products while using this medication.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Marfen is generally contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, as it may harm the developing fetus. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding, as it can pass into breast milk and potentially harm the nursing infant. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.
  • Driving and operating machinery: Marfen may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision in some individuals. If you experience these side effects, avoid activities that require mental alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, until you know how the medication affects you.

Prior to taking this medicine, tell your physician or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, or if you have some other hypersensitivities. This drug may contain inert ingredients which can cause unfavorable side effects or different issues. Talk with your pharmacist for more information.

Interactions

Marfen may interact with the following medicines:

  • Anticoagulants (blood thinners) such as warfarin: Marfen may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulants. Close monitoring of blood clotting parameters may be necessary.
  • Other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Concurrent use of multiple NSAIDs, including Marfen, can increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects and may also decrease the effectiveness of each medication.
  • Diuretics (water pills): Marfen can reduce the effectiveness of diuretics, potentially leading to increased blood pressure or fluid retention.
  • ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs): The use of Marfen with these medications may decrease their effectiveness and increase the risk of kidney problems.
  • Lithium: Marfen may increase the levels of lithium in the blood, potentially leading to lithium toxicity. Regular monitoring of lithium levels is recommended if these medications are used together.
  • Methotrexate: Marfen can increase the levels of methotrexate in the blood, potentially leading to methotrexate toxicity. Close monitoring of methotrexate levels and potential side effects is necessary if used together.
  • Cyclosporine: Marfen may increase the levels of cyclosporine in the blood, potentially leading to an increased risk of kidney damage. Monitoring of kidney function and cyclosporine levels is important if these medications are used together.

Inform your physician about the drugs you take including over-the-counter medications, prescribed drugs, supplements and vitamins.
