HEAT STRESS

Heat stress is a condition that is affected by extreme heat. Some factors affect the level of stress in the environment, especially those workers. The main factor is temperature, heat, and humidity. These factors are essential because many people or workers have high blood pressure and other related illnesses that may have a risk when you are in a hot and stressful situation. Our body needs sunlight, but not too much. In life, we need to know that everything will be taken in moderation. There is a mechanism wherein our body fights against heat. These include sweating, breathing and also change in blood flow. While you are in hot places, your blood circulation will change, and it happens first in the skin where it increases the heat on the body. 

Our body needs lots of blood flow during heavy work, and this heat reduces that level of blood flow that can cause stress and other related issues. Once your body sweat, it will help your body to heal and cool off. Heat stress happens when the body is exposed to so much heat. It will give lots of issues on your body that includes heat stroke, heat cramps and heat exhaustion. For many, it doesn’t sound evident because they have similarities. It is essential to know this different type of disorder to know how this can affect your health when you are exposed to a high amount of heat.

TYPES

Heat stress may lead to different types of disease that may affect your health, including:

  • Heat Exhaustion

Heat Exhaustion is one of the factors that increase when you are exposed to too much heat, which leads to a significant loss of water and salt that usually happens from sweating profusely.

  • Heat Stroke

Heatstroke is one of the factors that are considered to be more serious, the most extreme and risky heat illness. This happens when the body can no longer control its temperature.

Diagnosing heat stress is through the help of a professional. Heat stress is a reaction of our body in exposure to a high amount of sunlight. Heat stress may lead to severe complications if it is not treated or avoided. You may seek with a health care provider to make sure that you are not at risk with other health complications. The doctor will ask you about your medical history and also your work. He/she may request for a physical examination and lab test to make sure you are aware of your health. 

 

TREATMENT

Treatment for heat stress will be started by yourself. You should be aware that too much heat may be harmful to your health.  It would help if you did some research on how to avoid heat stress and its complications. You may ask your doctor about it. One of the essential things is to drink lots of water, wear loose shirts, avoid too much direct sunlight and always think about your health.
