HEART LEAD EXTRACTION

HEART LEAD EXTRACTION

Heart lead extraction helps in treating heart problems and preventing harmful heart disease. Numerous individuals have surgically installed cardiac tools. These tools involve ICDs or implantable cardioverter defibrillators and pacemakers.

Both of these tools have two primary elements: a set of leads and a pulse generator. The pulse generator is a tiny machine with battery and electric circuits. And the leads are the cables that operate within the heart and pulse generator. The leads can bring a rupture of energy in either the ICDs and pacemakers.

The ruptured energy can make the heart beat rapidly, or it can prevent harmful fast heart rhythms. To make this, the lead requires exposure to the heart alone. Some of the leads moved between the veins to proceed in the right portion of the heart. They are commonly linked to the inner heart with a tiny screw towards the muscle in the heart. The body creates a scar in the tissue all over the leads, which makes it stay more exactly with the heart.

The style of lead permits them to stay connected in the heart indelibly. Occasionally, it is essential to extract leads which is known as heart lead extraction.

SYMPTOMS

Most people who undergo heart lead extraction are very fortunate, yet it is a general surgical method. Alone, it has risks that will affect  you in particular. There is a possibility of rupturing the heart near the artery. It can cause crucial bleeding of the chest that needs an immediate blood transfusion. These are some of the issues:

  • Blood clot in the lungs
  • Harm to the heart valve
  • Stroke
  • Complications
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Arm swelling
  • In severe cases, death

TREATMENT

The first thing to do is to talk with your doctor about the things you need before the extraction. You may also be required to avoid drinking or eating the night before the extraction day. It is important to follow all the instructions to make sure your extraction will be successful.

Your doctor may request some tests before the extraction. These include:

Let your doctor know if there are problems before the extraction. Make sure you are not pregnant during the procedure to avoid exposing the fetus to the radiation.
