Fosaprepitant is a prodrug of aprepitant, an antiemetic drug used to prevent acute and delayed emesis by inhibiting the selective high affinity substance P/neurokin-1 (NK1) receptor. It increases the antiemetic property of the 5-HT3-receptor antagonist (ondansetron) and corticosteroid. It also inhibits both acute and delayed phases of cisplatin induced emesis.
