FAROPENEM

Faropenem is an antibiotic that treats a variety of bacterial infection in the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, skin, and lungs. It works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell wall to kill bacteria.

This medication is used to treat bacterial infection. Faropenem may also be used in other conditions to be determined by your doctor.

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary.

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Rashes
  • Sweating
  • Headache
  • Vitamin Deficiency
  • Muscle Pain
  • Loose Bowel Movements

Precautions

Before taking this drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • If you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are to undergo any surgical procedure.
  • If you are taking herbal, prescription and non-prescription drugs.
  • If you have certain medical conditions such as:
    • Kidney Problem
    • Diarrhoea
    • Poor Oral Intake
    • Vitamin K Deficiency

 

Interactions

Drug interactions may either lessen the effectiveness of this drug or heighten the risk for severe side effects. It’s important to inform your doctor all the medication including prescription and non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking or going to take.

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
