FAMOTIDINE + CALCIUM CARBONATE + MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE

Famotidine is a drug that blocks acid release in the stomach and can help stop heartburn and acid indigestion from coming back. Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that work quickly to lower acid in the stomach and stop heartburn.

This combination of three medications is used to treat heartburn and other symptoms caused by too much acid in the stomach (acid indigestion). It works by neutralizing stomach acid and reducing stomach acid production.

Do NOT use famotidine/ calcium carbonate/ magnesium hydroxide if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in famotidine/calcium carbonate/magnesium hydroxide or other H2 blockers (eg, ranitidine)
  • you are taking calcium acetate or dasatinib

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

This product contains an antacid which may react with other medications, preventing them from being fully absorbed by your body. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about how to schedule your medications to prevent this problem.

Stop taking this medication and call your doctor promptly if your symptoms continue after you begin taking it, or if they do not improve after you have been taking this medication for 14 days in a row. Do not take this medicine for more than 14 days in a row without talking with your doctor.

Diarrhea, headache, constipation, or stomach cramps may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: easy bruising/bleeding, fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn’t go away, fever, chills), mental/mood changes (e.g., restlessness, confusion, depression, hallucinations), seizure.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), trouble breathing.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
