EYEBROW LIFT

EYEBROW LIFT

An eyebrow lift is a surgical operation to raise the brows, and is also known as an eyebrow lift or forehead rejuvenation. By lifting the soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow, a brow lift enhances the look of the forehead, the brow, and the region around the eyes.

It is for the short, sagging, or asymmetric brow.

Aging normally stimulates the brows to sag. The distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes often shortens as the skin and soft tissues lose elasticity, giving a weary, frustrated, or depressed look because of the lower positioning of eyebrows. A lifted eyebrow could result in a more refreshed, appealing look.

Risks

  • Hair problem
  • Scarring
  • Asymmetry in the position of the brows
  • Changes in skin sensation (temporary or permanent)

In surgery, a brow lift can:

  • Pose a risk of bleeding
  • Infection
  • Adverse reaction to anesthesia

TYPES

  • Endoscopic brow lift
  • Coronal brow lift
  • Hairline brow lift

The specific technique the surgeon will choose determines the location of the incision and may vary depending on the patient’s desired eyebrow lift.

TREATMENT

During the first visit the doctor would likely do and ask the following:

  • Review the patient’s medical history
  • Physical exam
  • Stop the patient from taking any medication that can increase bleeding
  • Discuss the patient’s expectation
  • Stop the patient from smoking

After the procedure

The forehead might be loosely covered to alleviate swelling after a brow lift. To drain any extra blood or fluid, a short tube may be inserted along the incision area.

Eyebrow lift aftercare

  • Elevate the head while resting and take the pain medication prescribed after the surgery
  • To relieve swelling, apply a cold compress
  • Avoid excessive pressure or motion on the incisions

Consult the doctor in charge if it’s fine to resume daily activities, such as washing, or blow-drying hair, and bathing. Always remember that inflammation might last up to several weeks.

Results

A brow lift will provide a more youthful look by lifting the soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow. Bear in mind that the effects of brow lifts will not last long. Sun exposure also leads to skin aging.
