Description: Doripenem is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic with antibacterial activity against aerobic, anaerobic gm+ve and gm-ve bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Doripenem is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections including that of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.
How to use doripenem intravenous
This medication is given by injection into a vein, usually every 8 hours or as directed by your doctor. It should be injected slowly over 1 hour. Follow the presercibed dosage for best treatment outcome.

Side effects may range from mild to serious complications. Consult your doctor immediately when you feel the following symptoms: Pain/redness/swelling at the injection site, nausea, headache, or diarrhea, unusual tiredness, pale skin, oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection, seizures.
This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea) due to a type of resistant bacteria with the following symptoms: persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain/cramping, blood/mucus in your stool.
Seek emergency medical help if you experience allergies (rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing) or the symptoms mentioned above while taking this drug.
Precautions
Inform your doctor of your allergies (food or drugs), medical conditions and medical history before taking this drug, especially of: kidney disease, seizures, stroke.
For pregnant and nursing (breastfeeding) women, consult your doctor before using this medication.
Interactions
Before using this drug, tell your doctor of the current medications, products (herbal/nonprescription) that you are taking especially of: vaccines that contain live bacteria (e.g., typhoid, BCG), valproic acid.
It may also have an effect on birth control pills.
