Do not use Calta in people with the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity
• Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), severe kidney disease, or Addison’s disease
• Individuals with a history of gastric ulcer or intestinal obstruction
• Additionally, individuals with difficulty swallowing or a history of gastrointestinal disorders should use potassium citrate with caution

Calta may have the following side effects:

• Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, gas, or diarrhea
• Serious side effects may include difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, black/tarry stools, or allergic reactions
• Other potential side effects may include severe vomiting or stomach pain, high blood potassium levels (nausea, weakness, tingly feeling, chest pain), and abdominal swelling
• Pregnant women should only use this medication if necessary, and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it
