BUTAMIRATE CITRATE

 

Description: Butamirate citrate belongs to a class of medicines called antitussives, which suppress coughing, possibly by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain.

Symptomatic treatment of cough of various origins.

Do not give to patients with hypersensitivity to butamirate citrate.

Rarely dizziness, nausea, diarrhea & skin rash.

Precautions

Avoid simultanous administration of expectorants, another class of cough medicines that increase the bronchial secretion and enhance the expulsion of mucus. Give with caution in pregnant and lactating women. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.

 

Interactions

Avoid use with expectorants.

Overdose symptoms include somnolence, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and hypotension. If overdose is suspected, bring the victim to the hospital immediately.
