BENORILATE

Benorilate is a medicine that is related to aspirin and paracetamol. It can relieve pain, inflammation and fever. After taken in the body, it is metabolized into paracetamol and salicylates. It belongs to the type of drugs known as analgesics and antipyretics.

Benorilate is used in the treatment of pain and inflammation that is observed in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and other forms of arthritis. It is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain.

Benorilate should be taken with food, before or after meals. It should not be given to people who have the following conditions:

  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • Children less than 16 years of age
  • Hemophilia and other blood disorders
  • Gout
  • Allergy to salicylates or paracetamol

This medicine should not be given to breastfeeding women.

Benorilate can give rise to the following side effects:

  • Heartburn
  • GI disturbances
  • Drowsiness
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Dizziness
  • Tinnitus
  • Deafness

Precautions

Precautions should be observed by people with the following conditions:

  • Asthma
  • Allergic reactions
  • Uncontrolled hypertension
  • Kidney problems
  • Liver problems
  • Dehydration
  • Alcohol dependence
  • Fever or viral infections

Caution should be observed in pregnant women or elderly people.

Benorilate may interact with the following medications:

  • Colestyramine
  • Kaolin
  • Domperidone
  • Metoclopramide
  • Coumarin
  • Heparin
  • Phenytoin
  • Valproate
  • Spironolactone
  • Sulfinpyrazone
  • ACE inhibitors
  • Angiotensin-2 receptor antagonists
  • Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
  • Clopidogrel
  • Corticosteroids
  • Coumarin
  • Phenindione
  • Sibutramine
  • Venlafaxine
  • Cilostazol
  • Mifepristone
  • Other NSAIDs

Increased concentrations of salicylate and paracetamol in the blood may occur during an overdose with Benorilate. If you think you may have taken more Benorilate than what is recommended, seek medical help immediately.
