BACILLUS CLAUSII

Bacillus Clausii is a drug that belongs to a class of medicines known as probiotics. The spores of Bacillus clausii are normally found in intestinal flora and are not dangerous. Oral administration of Bacillus clausii can pass through the intestinal acid barrier and can be tranported into living vegetative cells.

Bacillus clausii administration helps in restoring the intestinal flora upset caused by various imbalances. It also helps in B vitamin production. It helps in correcting vitamin deficiencies that are caused by chemotherapy and antibiotics.

Bacillus Clausii is used in treating acute diarrhea with a duration of two weeks or those caused by poisons or drugs. It is also used in the treatment of persistent or chronic diarrhea that lasts more than two weeks.

Do not give this drug to those with hypersensitivity.

Bacillus Clausii may have the following side effects:

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Rash
  • Urticaria
  • Angioedema

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

Interactions

There are no known interactions subsequent to the concomitant use of other drugs.
