LATAMOXEF

Latamoxef is an oxacephalosporin with antimicrobial spectrum of activity similar to third generation cephalosporins and it also inhibits beta-lactamases.

Latamoxef is used in the treatment of susceptible infections such as meningitis.

Patients with hypersensitivity should be cautious. A patient with diabetes or hypertension needs to be warned about few drug interactions. Certain medications should be avoided to a pregnant or a breastfeeding woman. This medicine should be avoided by patients with hepatitis or cardiac diseases.

Side effects include hypoprothrombinemia, serious bleeding episodes, fever, and pain at injection site, diarrhea, cutaneous eruption, eosinophilia, leucopenia, and thrombocytopenia.

Monitor bleeding time and give prophylaxis with vitamin K.

Take precautions if used during pregnancy and lactation, as well as with those with kidney problems.

An exacerbation of side effect of the drug which can turn dangerous at times are shown in certain people who are very sick or very old or who are sensitive

Do not change the dosage of any medicine without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Patients with other co-existing diseases such as liver, heart, and kidney diseases should take special protections.

If you think you may have used Latamoxef more than the usual dose, seek medical help immediately.
