INDIGO CARMINE

The use of indigo carmine, a dye, is based on its renal excretion.

Indigo carmine is used as a marker dye in urological procedures.

If you are in planning to have a baby or if you are pregnant during Indigo carmine treatment consult with your doctor. Pregnant patients should take extra care in taking any type of drug.

It is unknown that indigo carmine can pass from mother to her baby via breastfeeding. Lactating mothers should not take this medication.

A patient with diabetes or hypertension needs to be warned about few drug interactions.

Indigo Carmine is not considered as a controlled substance. The use of indigo carmine is not yet known to lead to dependence or abuse.

Indigo carmine should be concentrated prior to use because in some people, drug reactions may happen.  Exacerbation of side effects of the drug which can turn dangerous at times are shown in certain people who are very sick or very old or who are sensitive.
