HEXOBENDINE

Hexobendine dilates cerebral and coronary arteries but slightly constricts femoral arteries without any effects on heart rate, blood pressure or cardiac output.

Hexobendine is used in the treatment of ischaemic heart disease.

Do not give to people with allergies to Hexobendine or Dilazep. A patient with diabetes or hypertension needs to be warned about few drug interactions. Avoid in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in patients with hepatitis or cardiac diseases.

The common side effects in using hexobendine include hypersensitivity reactions, mouth ulcers, and headache. A side effect of a drug does not only vary from drug to drug, but it also depends on the dose of the drug you take. Do not forget to share with your healthcare practitioner if you feel any side effect that troubles you.

Extra care should be observed in the following:

  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • Patients with infection
  • Haemorrhagic disorders
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiac diseases
  • Asthma

If you think you may have used hexobendine more than the usual recommended dose, seek medical help immediately.
