NANDROLONE

Nandrolone is a drug that belongs to a class of medicines known as anabolic steroids. It promotes the build-up of tissues and protein. It also stimulates erythropoietin production, a hormone that increases haemoglobin and red blood cell volume.

Nandrolone is used in the following medical conditions:

  • Debilitating illness
  • Metastatic breast carcinoma
  • Postmenopausal osteoporosis
  • Anaemia of chronic renal failure
  • Aplastic anaemia
  • Anaemia in chemotherapy patients

Nandrolone should not be given in the following cases:

  • Prostatic or breast carcinoma (male)
  • Nephrosis
  • Porphyria
  • Infants
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

Nandrolone may bring about the following side effects in males:

  • Acne
  • Gynaecomastia
  • Bladder irritability
  • Priapism
  • Insomnia
  • Chills
  • Decreased libido
  • Hepatic dysfunction
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Prostatic hyperplasia

Nandrolone may bring about the following side effects in females:

  • Virilism
  • Hypercalcaemia
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Chills
  • Insomnia
  • Iron deficiency anaemia
  • Hepatic dysfunction

Precautions

Take extra caution if you have the following conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Edema (e.g. CV disease, migraine, seizure disorder, renal impairment)
  • Liver disease
  • Elderly

Discontinue if signs of virilisation in women occur. Monitor skeletal maturation in children.

 

Interactions

Nandrolone may interact with the following medicines:

  • Oral anticoagulants
  • Insulin
  • Oral antidiabetic agents
  • Adrenal steroids
  • Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)
