BENFLUOREX

Benfluorex is a drug that regulates the level of lipids in the blood. It helps in decreasing the intestinal absorption of certain fats called triglycerides. This lipid is responsible for synthesizing and facilitating cellular penetration and utilisation of glucose.

This medication is used to treat Type 2 diabetes mellitus and Hyperlipidaemias.

Pregnant and lactating woman must be administered in taking this drug.

Common side effects may include:

  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea
  • Asthenia
  • Loose Stools
  • Epigastric Discomfort

Precautions

Before taking this drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • If you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking herbal, prescription and non-prescription drugs.
  • If you have certain medical conditions such as Chronic pancreatitis.

Drug interactions may either lessen the effectiveness of this drug or heighten the risk for severe side effects. It’s important to inform your doctor all the medication including prescription and non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking or going to take.

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
