SUGAMMADEX

Sugammadex works by reversing the effects of certain medications that are given during surgical procedures to relax your muscles.

This medication is used at the end of surgery to help restore muscle function that has been blocked during surgery by the other medicines. Sugammadex may also be used for purposes to be determined by your doctor.

Do not use Sugammadex if you are allergic to it.

Common side effects may include:

  • Slow Heartbeats
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Pain
  • Headache
  • A Light-Headed Feeling

Tell your caregivers right away if you have experienced severe allergic reaction such as:

  • Flushing (Warmth, Redness, or Tingly Feeling)
  • Itching
  • Eye Pain
  • Discomfort
  • Extreme Weakness
  • Weak or Shallow Breathing

Precautions

Before taking Sugammadex, tell your doctor your:

  • Allergies
  • Medications including prescription and non prescription or herbal products.
  • Pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Medical condition or history such as:
    • Kidney Disease (or if you are on Dialysis)
    • Liver Disease
    • A Bleeding or Blood Clotting Disorder such as Hemophilia
    • Low Levels of Platelets in Blood
    • A Breathing Disorder

 

Interactions

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist all prescription and non-prescription or herbal products you are using. Also, follow your doctor’s instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.

Since this medicine is given by a healthcare professional in a medical setting, an overdose is unlikely to occur. However, call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
