KOVALTRY

Kovaltry is a recombinant, human DNA sequence derived, full length Factor VIII concentrate. It works by temporarily replaces the missing clotting Factor VIII that is needed for effective hemostasis.

Uses

This medication is specifically indicated for use in adults and children with Hemophilia. It is a congenital Factor VIII deficiency. Kovaltry is used for treatment and control of bleeding episodes, for the perioperative management of bleeding and for routine prophylaxis to reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes.

Warnings

Contraindications and interactions and serious harmful effects associated with the drug intake. Caution must be observed in taking this drug, especially if the patient is:

Diabetic
Hypertensive
Pregnant Woman or a Breastfeeding Woman
Hepatitis (Liver Disease) Patient or a Cardiac Patient

Side Effects

Adverse effects associated with the use of Kovaltry may include:

Headache
Pyrexia
Pruritus

Precautions

Before taking Kovaltry, tell your doctor if you are/have:

If you are allergic to any ingredient in it or if you have allergies, especially to rodents
Been told that you have inhibitors to Factor VIII (because Kovaltry may not work for you)
Been told you have heart disease or are at risk for heart disease
Pregnant or Breastfeeding

Interactions

Some medicines may interact with Kovaltry. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Overdose & Brands

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
