SEBELIPASE ALFA

Sebelipase alfa is a hydrolytic lysosomal cholesteryl ester and triacylglycerol-specific enzyme. It is used to treat Lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL) deficiency. This is a life-threatening genetic disorder that can damage major organs in the body and lead to early death.

This medication is indicated for the treatment of patients with a diagnosis of Lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL) deficiency.

This drug is not approved to use by anyone younger than one (1) month old. It is not recommended to use by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Adverse effects associated with the use of this drug may include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Fever
  • Rhinitis
  • Anemia
  • Cough
  • Nasopharyngitis
  • Urticaria

Other side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Oropharyngeal Pain
  • Asthenia
  • Constipation
  • Nausea

Precautions

Before using this drug, tell your doctor if you are:

  • Allergic to any ingredient of it or if you have other allergies especially to eggs or egg products
  • Pregnant or planning to become pregnant

 

Interactions

Some medicines may interact with Sebelipase Alfa. Tell your doctor all the medications you are taking including prescription and non-prescription drugs.

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
