HISTRELIN IMPLANT

Histrelin implant is a synthetic analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. This medication works by decreasing the production of certain hormones, which reduces estrogen and testosterone levels in the body.

Histrelin implant is used to treat central precocious puberty (CPP) in children.

Do not use histrelin implant if you are:

  • Allergic to any ingredient in histrelin implant or other medicines containing GnRH
  • Pregnant or able to become pregnant

Common side effects may include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Urination Problems
  • Constipation
  • Breast Swelling or Tenderness
  • Feeling Tired
  • Decreased Testicle Size or Trouble Getting An Erection
  • Redness, Bruising, or Skin Irritation Where the Implant was Inserted

Precautions

Before taking Histrelin implant, tell your doctor if you have medical conditions, especially of the following:

  • Pregnant, Planning to become Pregnant, or are Breast-feeding
  • Taking any Prescription or Nonprescription Medicine, Herbal Preparation, or Dietary Supplement
  • Have Allergies to Medicines, Foods, or Other Substances
  • if you have urinary tract blockage or metastatic vertebral lesions

 

Interactions

Some medicines may interact with histrelin implant. Tell your doctor all you are taking, prescription and non prescription drugs or herbal and alternative medicine.

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
