EFLORNITHINE TOPICAL

Eflornithine cream is an enzyme inhibitor that blocks an enzyme necessary for hair to grow.

This medication is used to slow down the growth of unwanted hair on the face and under the chin in women.

Do not use eflornithine cream if you are allergic to any ingredient in eflornithine cream.

The most common side effects seen with eflornithine are:

  • acne
  • swollen patches that are sometimes reddened and contain a buried hair (pseudofolliculitis barbae)
  • headache
  • skin itching
  • stinging
  • burning
  • dry or tingling skin
  • rash
  • hair loss
  • ingrown hairs.

Precautions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to eflornithine; or if you have any other allergies before using this product,. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as methylparaben), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

 

Interactions

Some medicines may interact with eflornithine cream. However, no specific interactions with eflornithine cream are known at this time.

This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call emergency hotline.
