CHLOROXYLENOL

 

Description: Chloroxylenol is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial chemical compound used to control bacteria, algae, fungi and virus. Chloroxylenol was first registered as a pesticide in the United States in 1959. The original purpose of the substance was a fungicide in hospitals.

Chloroxylenol is used in hospitals and households for disinfection and sanitation. It is also commonly used in antibacterial soaps, wound-cleansing applications and household antiseptics such as Dettol liquid (to which it contributes its distinctive odor), cream and ointments.

Chloroxyenol is for external use only and should not be ingested.

This chemical causes eye irritation, but the substance has low acute toxicity levels.

Not to be applied undiluted.
