Do not give to patients with severe liver impairment.
Dizziness, drowsiness, myalgia (muscle pain), visual hallucination, anxiety, hallucination, and nausea.
Precautions
Before taking zolpidem, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Interactions
Flumazenil reverses the sedative/hypnotic effect of zolpidem. Increased depressant effects with CNS depressants (e.g. sedatives, antihistamines, alcohol). Additive effect on decreased alertness and psychomotor performance with imipramine and chlorpromazine. Increased plasma concentration with itraconazole, ketoconazole and other CYP3A4 inhibitors. May decrease plasma concentration with CYP3A4 inducers (e.g. carbamazepine). Reduced hypnotic effect with rifampicin.
Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of prolonged sedation and respiratory depression with ritonavir.
Avoid combination with St John’s wort, alcohol and grapefruit juice.
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, bring the victim to the hospital immediately.
