JOINT PAIN

Joints are the parts of your body where your bones meet. Joints allow the bones of your skeleton to move. Joints include:

  • Shoulders
  • Hips
  • Elbows
  • Knees

Joint pain refers to discomfort, aches, and soreness in any of the body’s joints. Joint pain is a common complaint and does typically require a hospital visit. It is sometimes the result of an illness or injury.

Symptoms:

  • Pain in joint area
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Inability to move affected area

DIAGNOSIS

The diagnosis of joint pain involves a thorough history and physical examination done by the doctor. An x-ray may also be needed to properly assess the cause of injury for the pain.

 

TREATMENT

  • Lifestyle change
  • Exercise
  • Medical management, depending on cause of joint pain
