Chlormethine is an alkylating agent and a prototype anticancer chemotherapeutic drug which prevents the DNA replication and RNA transcription through the formation of carbonium ions. This leads to cross-linking of DNA strands and causes miscoding, breakage and replication failure, thus inhibiting cell division and DNA synthesis leading to cell death.
