QUADRIVALENT SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINE

The Quadrivalent Seasonal Influenza Vaccine offers better protection against flu viruses. It helps reduce the risk of flu, hospitalizations and the risk of flu-associated death in children.

The vaccine was first developed in 2012 and, with addition of other B viruses,  enhances protection against flu viruses.

Quadrivalent Seasonal Influenza Vaccine is used in the following:

  • Reducing the risk of flu illnesses
  • Hospitalizations
  • Reducing the risk of flu-related death in children

Do not give this drug to people with the following conditions:

  • Allergic reactions to influenza vaccine

Quadrivalent Seasonal Influenza Vaccine may have the following side effects:

  • Injection-site reactions (pain, tenderness, redness, swelling)
  • Irritability and abnormal crying (in infants 6 to 25 months)
  • Feeling unwell(malaise)
  • Drowsiness
  • Appetite loss
  • Muscle pain
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Fever

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Patients with acute severe febrile illness
  • Patients with immunodeficiency
  • Thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder
  • Pregnancy and lactation

Interactions

Quadrivalent Seasonal Influenza Vaccine may interact with ELISA serologic tests for HIV-1, hepatitis C & HTLV-1 (false positive)
