INACTIVATED INFLUENZA VACCINE

The inactivated influenza vaccine is used for active immunization of anyone who are older than 65 years of age, pregnant ladies, people with specific health issues, people with difficulty learning, patients residing in nursing homes, care givers of people at risk of flu complications like asthma, lung disorders, brain disorders, liver or kidney problems and learning difficulties.

Indicated for active immunization of adults and children from 6 months of age for the prevention of influenza disease caused by influenza virus types A and B contained in the vaccine

Do not give this drug to people with the following conditions:

  • Known hypersensitivity after previous administration of influenza vaccines

Inactivated Influenza Vaccine may have the following side effects:

  • Pain
  • Swelling or redness at the injection site
  • Slightly high temperature
  • Headache
  • Feeling generally unwell
  • Shivering
  • Tiredness

Precaution

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Acute severe febrile illness
  • Patients receiving immunosuppressive treatment or patients with immunodeficiency
  • Thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder
  • Pregnancy and lactation
