DIENOGEST

Dienogest is a drug known as a nonethinylated progestogen that decreases estradiol production. It suppresses the effects of estradiol on the endometrium. It also has immunologic, antiproliferative, and anti-angiogenic effects on cells

Dienogest is used in the treatment of endometriosis.

Warnings

Active venous thromboembolic disorder
Active or history of arterial and heart disease
Diabetes mellitus with vascular involvement
Presence or history of liver tumor
Sex-hormone dependent malignancies
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
Eye disease
Migraine
Severe liver impairment
Pregnancy
Lactation

Side Effects

Dienogest may have the following side effects:

Menstrual bleeding irregularity like amenorrhea
Prolonged bleeding
Frequent/infrequent bleeding
Increased risk of venous thromboembolism
Hypersensitivity

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medines:

Patient with multiple risk factors for heart disease
Elderly
Hypertension
Diabetes Mellitus
Hypercholesterolemia
Morbid obesity
History of depression or gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Children
