A dose of thise vaccine is able to prevent 95% of moderate chickenpox and 100% of severe chickenpox. Two doses of the vaccine are deemed to be more effective than one. Whenever given to the individuals who are not immune whithin five days of chickenpox exposure, it averts most cases of the disease. It is injected under the skin.
