VARENICLINE TARTRATE

Varenicline is a medicine that is used in smoking cessation. It binds with nicotine acetylcholine receptors and has partial agonist effects when used alone and antagonist activities when used with nicotine.

Varenicline can successfully hinder nicotine’s activity to completely activate α4β2 receptors and the mesolimbic dopamine system, which is responsible for the reward experienced after smoking.

Varenicline Tartrate is used to aid smoking cessation treatment.

Do not give Varenicline Tartrate to people with the following conditions:

Varenicline Tartrate may have the following side effects:

  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Frustration or anger
  • Anxiety
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Restlessness
  • Decreased heart rate

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
  • Erythema Multiforme
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

Interactions

Varenicline Tartrate may interact with the following medicines:

  • Transdermal nicotine
  • Cimetidine

Overdose & Brands
