STAYING SAFE DURING THE PANDEMIC: HOW TO HOST A VIRTUAL HOLIDAY PARTY

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing is a must and in-person gatherings should be avoided. Don’t let these limitations put a damper on your holiday celebrations. With a little extra effort and some innovative ideas, you can still celebrate Christmas and the New Year with family and friends through a virtual holiday party.

Here are some tips on how to host a memorable and fun-filled party:

Create your guest list. This is the important first step to hosting a virtual party. Your guest count determines what kinds of games you can play.

Start party preparations. Choose a party theme and prepare your costume/outfit. To make your party fun and engaging, select online games such as trivia games, Scattergories, Pictionary, Heads Up, among others. Then, choose your video conferencing platform. Send virtual invitations via email or social media and collect RSVPs. Make sure to send event reminders to your guests several hours before the party.

Look great on camera. You always want to look your best when socializing, and a virtual holiday party is no different. Aside from a well-groomed hair, your face should look fabulous. Apply a hydrating facial moisturizer to add luminosity to your skin. Curl your lashes and swipe on a black mascara to add definition to your eyes, making them appear brighter on camera. Apply a vibrant blush to add warmth to your cheeks. Use your fingers to apply concealer under your eyes on the bridge of your nose, on the inner corners of your eye, and on the area just above your jawline. Don’t forget to put on your best holiday outfit.

Take care of your physical health. The most expensive skincare products and makeup won’t matter if we don’t take good care of ourselves. Eating nutritious foods, getting enough sleep, and exercise are the most important ways to strengthen your immune system, which is vital during this pandemic. In addition, research has shown that taking food supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and herbs can boost immune response and help protect against illness.

Take virtual group photos during the party and share these with your guests. Photos are the best souvenirs of memorable and fun moments with family and friends; they are good keepsakes especially during this challenging time.

Send gifts to loved ones. Studies show that giving can boost your physical and mental health. Health and beauty products are among the most popular holiday gift ideas. For convenience and safety, order online and have the gifts home-delivered to relatives and friends.
