SAW PALMETTO

Saw palmetto is an herb that is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia or prostate enlargement. This extract inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha reductase which catalyzes the change of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a strong stimulant for BPH. It also repress aromatase, a chemical that catalyzes the transformation of testosterone into 17 beta-estradiol, a hormone which additionally brings about BPH. As BPH is always connected to non-bacterial prostatitis, the anti- edematous impacts of saw palmetto gives extra advantages to the patients.

Saw Palmetto is used in the following:
