Ribociclib is a class of drug which selectively inhibits cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) 4 and 6. When over-activated, these proteins enables cancer cells to grow and multiply too quickly. Ribociclib is used to inactivate the progression of cancer and cell proliferation. The interaction between cyclin D and CDK 4 and 6 is blocked, preventing the phosphorylation of tumor suppressor protein retinoblastoma and the progression of cell cycle from G1 into S phase therefore it inhibits the growth of cancer cells.
